Proteas captain Faf du Plessis said on Wednesday that the Test against Bangladesh is an opportunity to ‘start afresh’. He welcomed the change to the decision review system (DRS) that will take effect for the very first time on Thursday.
This marked change in the DRS system is one of a number of changes initiated by the International Cricket Council (ICC). This includes a restriction on bat sizes “and a provision for players to be sent off the field for serious misconduct”, AFP reports.
Du Plessis, who claimed the role as South Africa’s captain across all three formats alongside Ottis Gibson, spoke of the new coach saying: "He wants to observe and see how we go about things and as time goes on he can start making a few decisions on what changes he wants to make. He has given a few fresh ideas to the bowling unit."
The match gets underway on Thursday at 10:00 CAT (SA, GMT+2).
