The Proteas can sew up the series against Australia and confirm their standing as the number one ranked side in the world by winning the fourth MTN ODI at Sahara Oval St. George's on Monday.

"It would be great to finish the series (off) here," commented in-form batsman AB de Villiers who has an average of 59 and a strike rate of 87 after the first three matches. "Our batters set it up very nicely for us on Thursday night. I think 230 odd was the previous highest successful night runs chase at Sahara Park Newlands, so to set them 290 to win was always going to be a very tough task. It was a very good win for us."

De Villiers said the position in which the Proteas found themselves was the result of the hard work that had been put in over a long period of time.

"We played very good one-day cricket in Australia. We have actually been playing very good cricket for the last two years. We have got a nice brand of cricket going and we are playing at a very high level in terms of our skills. Everybody knows their role in the team and exactly what is expected from them. We have the home crowd behind us and we have a bit of momentum going for us, so we would like to finish the series off here in Port Elizabeth."

De Villiers said that the number one ranking was not a specific goal as such rather a case of going game by game and series by series.

"We are not really focused on that (the number one ranking). We have got our own standards that we like to set and the goals that we want to achieve. Obviously, if we win this game ? which is one of our goals ? we will maintain the number one spot."

On an individual note De Villiers said he was satisfied with his form but would not be resting on his laurels.

"I have been in good form for a while now and it is important that you cash in when you have the form. You must never take it for granted and I will keep working hard at my game. I will follow the same game plan as normal: nice and tight for the first 20 balls and start to express myself a bit after that."
