The Victoria Bushrangers defeated the fancied Delhi Daredevils team by seven wickets in their Champions League Twenty20 match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday.

Daredevils captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and elected to bat first, looking to post a good score with such a vaunted batting line-up at his disposal, but lost wickets regularly.

Gambhir (4) himself was the first to go, castled by Shane Harwood in the third over.

Swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag began the Daredevils' innings swiftly with consecutive boundaries in Harwood's first over with the new ball, but his knock came to an end when first change bowler Clint McKay picked up a sharp return catch.

When McKay dismissed Owais Shah for a five-ball duck, the Daredevils were in a spot of bother.

Sri Lankan star Tillakaratne Dilshan was still at the wicket though and most of the run-scoring responsibility was now on his shoulders.

Even more pressure was piled on Dilshan when wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was run out for six.

With Mithun Manhas (25), Dilshan managed to revive the innings to an extent, but he eventually capitulated for a rather pedestrian 18, as the Daredevils posted a paltry 98/8.

Victoria opener Rob Quiney began his innings cautiously, but with Ashish Nehra and Dirk Nannes both bowling rather poorly, he cut loose.

Nannes and Nehra conceded several boundaries as the left-hander knocked off almost half the target in very little time.

Quiney eventually fell to leg-spinner Amit Mishra, but he had already done enough damage with the bat.

In the end, the Bushrangers cruised to a seven wicket win, with Cameron White unbeaten on 22 and Aiden Blizzard on 15.
