Ahmed Amla, back from representing South Africa in the International Hong Kong Sixes, replaces Rivash Gobind in the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins cricket team to play against The Cape Cobras in the second round of the four-day Supersport Series at Paarl from Thursday to Sunday. Gobind will captain Natal in the South African Airways Challenge Series match against Boland at Chatsworth.
In another change, leg-spinner Tyron Pillay replaces fast bowler Mornantau Hayward. Coach Phil Russell believes that the wicket at Boland Park will suit young Tyron Pillay. He showed promising form this past weekend while playing for the KwaZulu-Natal provincial team against the Zimbabwe under-23 side in the South African Airways Challenge series, where he took eight wickets for 78 in the three-day game, and a further three for 30 in the limited overs game. Russell said that Hayward, who bowled tightly and with great discipline against the Highveld Lions at Kingsmead last weekend, has not reached peak form, and this is attributable to the lay off that he has had since his groin operation during the recent county cricket season in England. Often termed 'Wayward Hayward', the former Proteas strike bowler significantly did not concede either a wide or a no-ball in his spells against the Lions.
