The Gestetner Diamond Eagles retained their spot on top of the SuperSport-series cricket standings with a ten wicket victory over the Chevrolet Warriors at the OUTsurance Oval in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

The Warriors were stranded on 138 for 6 in their second innings at the close of play on the third day. They started the last day's play 54 runs behind the Diamond Eagles with only four wickets in hand.

The visitors added 77 runs to their overnight score before they were bowled out by the Eagles. CJ de Villiers (5/65) and Dillon du Preez (4/41) were the best bowlers for the home side.

De Villiers grabbed his first five wicket haul in an innings, while Du Preez is still the leading wicket-taker in the SuperSport-series after grabbing six wickets in the match.

Arno Jacobs (78) and Lyall Meyer (48) batted well for the Warriors and made things difficult for the home side. They shared a 59-run partnership for the eighth wicket which frustrated the Eagles.

The home side were left to score 24 runs for victory in their second innings and the Warriors decided to open the bowling in the home side's second innings with two spinners, Arno Jacobs and Robin Peterson. Dean Elgar and Loots Bosman (7*) raced to the target in only five overs to give the Eagles a convincing victory on their home turf.

The Warriors were restricted to 108 runs in their first innings by the home side, while Eagles scored 300 runs in their first innings.

Starring for the Warriors, Mario Olivier took all ten Eagles wickets, becoming only the third bowler to achieve this feat in South African first class cricket.
