Left-hander Jacobs, 30, has joined the Foxes as a Kolpak player and Cricket Scotland have re-signed Australian all-rounder Ian Moran to take his place.

Moran, 27, played for the Saltires last season and has been playing for Uddingston in the Scottish National Cricket League Premier Division in the early stages of this term.

Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith said: "Leicestershire wanted to sign Arno for the remainder of the season, and Cricket Scotland was delighted to help further his professional career by agreeing to the request.

"It is a shame to lose Arno after just three games, but I am sure he will be a great success for Leicestershire and we wish him well."

Leicestershire coach Tim Boon said: "We are very pleased to secure the services of Arno, one of South African's leading run-makers in domestic cricket in recent years.

"He will certainly add some experience to the top order. He will be a Kolpak signing but the club has taken the view that it is in the best interests of developing 'qualified for England' players that they learn from experienced players, whatever their nationality."
