Andrew Strauss hit only his second half-century in 16 Test innings but England lost late wickets in the fourth Test against West Indies.
Opener Strauss cracked a flurry of early boundaries, cutting and pulling himself out of his worst run of scores in three years as an international player. But England lost four wickets before the close of the third day, which they closed 166 runs behind West Indies' 287. Alastair Cook perished to a leg-side strangle while captain Michael Vaughan and nightwatchman Matthew Hoggard edged into the slips. Then Kevin Pietersen succumbed when he bottom-edged a pull through to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin to hand Fidel Edwards a third success. Earlier, Shivnarine Chanderpaul made Ian Bell pay for dropping him on nine by hitting his second unbeaten century in a row during this series, and 16th of his Test career. A dogged last-wicket stand with Corey Collymore of 58 extended Chanderpaul's time at the crease beyond 20 hours in four innings against England this summer. Fixtures *SA Times
