Flyhalf Morne Steyn scored all 31 points for the Springboks as they produced an impressive display to make it two wins in a row over New Zealand in the 2009 Tri-Nations.

The South Africans were celebrating a number of personal milestones on Saturday and their performance in Durban was certainly one worthy of the big occasion.

John Smit, captaining his national side for a World record 60th time, was once again prominent, but it will be flyhalf Steyn whose name tops all the headlines of the Sunday newspapers.

The home side showed great tactical control in wet conditions against the All Blacks and produced an outstanding team performance to overcome Graham Henry's team 31-19 - sending themselves four points clear at the top of the Tri-Nations log.

Peter Murison rates all the Springbok players?

South Africa:

15 Frans Steyn:
His booming boot remains a fantastic weapon from the back. Not many attacking opportunities but looks more and more comfortable in the Springbok fullback jersey. 7/10

14 JP Pietersen:
A little unlucky to get the yellow card for what might have been seen as a reactionary high tackle. Pietersen didn't get much ball through the line but did his best to get involved - chasing bravely and making some big tackles. 7/10

13 Jaque Fourie:
Very prominent in the first half and lethal chasing the up and under. Some powerful runs, combined with his outstanding defensive work, saw him enjoy another solid day in the Green and Gold. 8/10

12 Jean de Villiers:
Looked hugely motivated to perform in his 50th test but wasn't able to find much space to play with. More involved in the second half, solid defensively and creative when he could be on attack. 7/10

11 Bryan Habana:
The other half of the pair celebrating playing their 50th test matchs, Habana also didn't get many opportunities but what he does, he does well. 7/10

10 Morne Steyn:
A record number of points for any player in a Tri-Nations match, Steyn continues to show he belongs on the international stage. Mixes up his kicking options well and also comfortable feeding his backline good attacking ball. Thirty-one points in total - great work from the Bulls flyhalf. 10/10

9 Fourie du Preez:
A big factor in the comfortable performance from Steyn, Du Preez's educated kicking game was another very important factor for the Springboks on the night. 8/10

8 Pierre Spies:
The Bulls No.8 carried strongly, getting over the advantage line, and was heavily involved all around the park on the night. 8/10

7 Juan Smith:
The big blindside was ruthless on defence for the Springboks, making a number of big tackles and contesting strongly at the contact situations. 8/10

6 Heinrich Brussow:
A spectacular second forty minutes from the Free State Cheetahs star. Battle well in the first half but was ferocious in the second half, running strongly and once again dominating the breakdown. 9/10

5 Victor Matfield:
The lineout maestro was once again in control of the set piece and part of a very dominant tight five. 8/10

4 Bakkies Botha:
The Springbok enforcer was at his dominating best at Absa Park. The yellow card in the second half was disappointing but his work around the pitch was second to none. 8/10

3 John Smit (captain):
Had some issues up against Tony Woodcock at some points but generally held his own. A typical Smit performance around the park - number of strong runs and solid work in and around the breakdown. 8/10

2 Bismarck du Plessis:
Another strong showing from the Sharks hooker. Powerful ball carrying as well as a couple important steals in the contact situations. Continues to grow in stature. 8/10

1 Tendai Mtawarira:
One memorable run for 'the Beast' but it is his work in the loose, as part of this impressive tight five, which he should be praised for. Good contest up front with young Owen Franks. 8/10
