Griquas' unbeaten run and impressive form has been rewarded with six places in our esteemed Currie Cup Team of the Week - three in the starting XV and another three bubbling under.

But the big winners this week are Western Province, with four starting for us, followed by Griquas and the Cheetahs who have three each in the starting XV. The Sharks (two), Lions (two) and Blue Bulls (one) provide the remainder of our squad.

The Bubbling under squad is headed by the Sharks and Bulls, four each, Griquas (three), Cheetahs (two), Lions and WP (one each).

Six members return from last week's selection - fullback Stefan Terblanche (Sharks), scrumhalf Jano Vermaak (Lions), No.8 Willem Alberts (Lions), flank Pieter Louw (Western Province), lock Chris Jack (Western Province) and hooker Tiaan Liebenberg (Western Province).

15 - Stefan Terblanche (Sharks): The calming influence he brought probably saved his team at times when many others were losing their cool.

13 - Juan de Jongh (Western Province): From the first minute he stepped onto the Currie Cup stage, in Week One, you knew there was something special about this player. He has continued that good form through the first three weeks.

12 - Stefan Watermeyer (Blue Bulls): For a team that is supposed to play one-dimensional rugby they are producing an incredible number of very high quality midfielders.

11 - Bjorn Basson (Griquas): There's a good reason why he was part of the Cheetahs' Super 14 set-up and made the Emerging Springbok squad ... it is called quality.

10 - Naas Olivier (Griquas): As they say in the classics: 'You can't keep a good man down.' After being on the verge of obscurity, he has bounced back through the Vodacom Cup, then Super 14 and now Currie Cup.

9 - Jano Vermaak (Lions): One of the many strike weapons for a Lions team that is improving with every outing.

8 - Willem Alberts (Lions): The stand-in captain promised to lead from the front and he certainly did.

7 - Pieter Louw (Western Province): He has a workrate almost unmatched in the competition and to use a cliche, often punches above his weight.

6 - Johan Wessels (Free State Cheetahs): It is amazing how some players can stand out even when their teams look mediocre.

5 - David de Villiers (Free State Cheetahs): They may lack depth in some key departments, but in De Villiers they have one of the most underrated locks in the country.

4 - Chris Jack (Western Province): The glue that keeps an impressive WP pack together.

3 - WP Nel (Free State Cheetahs): Willem Petrus Nel was a Western Province discard who played for the Boland Cavaliers last year. He clearly had a point to prove.

2 - Tiaan Liebenberg (Western Province): He may be some way down in the national pecking order as a No.2, but he certainly won't disgrace the Springbok team.

1 - Deon Carstens (Sharks): He is obviously a class player and after the initial disappointment of missing the Tri-Nations cut, he improved significantly to produce a standout performance in a crucial game.
