Griquas are not just unbeaten at the top of the Currie Cup standings, but they continue to make a substantial contribution to our weekly selection.

This week there are again three Griquas players in the iafrica.com Team of the Week starting XV, but they also provide another four members to our Bubbling Under selection.

However, the big numbers this week come from Western Province and the Sharks, who provide five members each.

Add in Griquas' three and two from the Cheetahs and you have our team.

WP also have six members in our Bubbling Under squad, Griquas four, the Blue Bulls and Cheetahs two each, while the Sharks also have representation here.

Five players return from last week - fullback Stefan Terblanche (Sharks), centre Juan de Jongh (Western Province), flyhalf Naas Olivier (Griquas), prop WP Nel (Free State Cheetahs) and hooker Tiaan Liebenberg (Western Province).

The rock on which the Sharks are rebuilding a campaign that had a very shaky start.

Proving he is more than just a Sevens specialist and showing what it means to 'look for work'.

To use a cliche, he is punching above his weight. Not just nimble feet, but a fine defender as well.

12 - Barry Geel (Griquas):
One of the reasons why Griquas are front-runners in the competition - he is one of several players who have lifted their games to a new level.

11 - Gio Aplon (Western Province):
The fast and the furious ... the 'Newlands drift'. Okay, that may be over the top, but he has pace aplenty and remains a great stepper.

He is having a dream season and one of those many Griqua players stepping up to the required Currie Cup levels.

9 - Rory Kockott (Sharks):
He may be a bit hot-headed at times and others see him as too cocky, but he remains a top-class No.9.

8 - Luke Watson (Western Province):
No, it wasn't just his hat-trick of tries, he is actually playing some great rugby.

7 - Jean Deysel (Sharks):
He is coming into his own now, after a slow start to the season.
Bubbling under: Jacques Burger (Blue Bulls)

6 - Jacques Botes (Sharks):
When the Sharks' loose forwards fire, the team gets good results.

5 - Anton van Zyl (Western Province):
He is proving to be one of the best buys by Province for some time. He looks like he is enjoying being back in Cape Town .. it is, after all, his home town.

4 - Steven Sykes (Sharks):
He will still get that elusive Bok cap, in the not too distant future.
Bubbling under: Chris Jack (Western Province)

3 - WP Nel (Cheetahs):
He has all the right qualities and showing the kind of form that will attract attention from big-money provinces in need of a good tighthead prop.

2 - Tiaan Liebenberg (Western Province):
No debate, the form hooker in the competition.
Bubbling under: Derick Kuün (Blue Bulls)

1 - Albertus Buckle (Griquas):
He may not rank all that high on the national pecking order, not yet anyway. But if he keeps working on it he may soon play some representative rugby.
