Arsene snaps
A usually composed Arsene Wenger snapped after Birmingham fans began to chant the name of Ryan Talylor as Arsenal forward Theo Walcott lay clutching his injured knee at the Emirates. For those of you who don't know Taylor is the man who broke the leg of Arsenal striker Eduardo two seasons ago. It's safe to say Arsene didn't appreciate the Blues fans' attempts at 'humour'.
"Frankly, that is atrocious. They will not be remembered for the quality of their taste with that kind of remark.
"I just thought 'that is low' and put it in the ranks of stupidity." - Wenger lashes out at the Blues fans.
"One starts to say something stupid, everybody follows even intelligent people."
"People lose their identity together and their sense of responsibility."
"I don't want to go too overboard because one of the beauties of the English game is a total commitment, and if you cut that out of the game, the players will not improve any more."
I did not lie - Chuene
After doing his bit to ruin the life of a promising young athlete, embarrassing himself, Athletics South Africa and our sporting reputation, one would think Leonard Chuene would lay low for a while. But the disgraced ASA chief was at it again at a briefing of the National Assembly's sport and recreation committee.
Chuene denied having lied about not having any knowledge of gender tests conducted Caster Semenya.
"We learnt from the past that we were called liars even if we have put everything on paper. But they said 'you lied'. I don't understand."
"Despite increased media interest on Caster Semenya and issues surrounding her gender, members of ASA continued to deny the existence or knowledge of these tests as they believed that maintaining confidentiality would protect her as an individual on this highly sensitive requirement.
"Had ASA admitted its knowledge at the time, it would have compromised Caster Semenya's privacy of this extremely sensitive issue and unfairly fuelled the debate and speculations surrounding the tests."
"ASA did not deny knowledge of the tests with any malice and the intention was never to deceive the South African public."
Did you tell the truth Leonard? No. Well, that's called lying? not sure why you are confused.
