Every week the iafrica.com sports team is split down the middle as they go head-to-head on the match-up of the weekend. This week Khaya Ndubane and Rob Peters cross swords over the big Soweto derby.

Rob Peters is adamant that Pirates will come out on top in swashbuckling style this weekend, and it's not just because he doesn't want Chiefs to win either?

The Soweto Derby still takes the prize as the biggest clash in local soccer. Forget the mass of money thrown at teams in the knock-out challenges, history trumps money as far as the supporters are concerned, and history is what this match has in spades.

Matches between the two SA giants are always hard-fought, emotional and jam-packed with big moments. Saturday will be no different either. Who will come out on top? The safe money would be on Chiefs considering current form.

Pirates have lost three on the trot, have one of the worst goal-scoring records this season and their current run has seen them drop off the pace in the PSL. That they are going through a slump is beyond doubt, but you can expect them to lift themselves for the Soweto derby this weekend.

You also need to remember that Chiefs, while scoring more goals than Pirates (which is not difficult at present), have let through plenty on the other end. They have been inconsistent and, more worryingly for their fans, is that they have only won one league game at home this season ? Wednesday night?s clash against Arrows.

Chiefs will struggle to break down the Bucs? defence, and in turn are likely to leave holes in their own. Bucs will start hitting their targets sooner rather than later ? I expect it to come on Saturday.
