In this edition of 'In the hotseat', four times Absa Premiership-winning coach Gordon Igesund shares his views on Bafana Bafana's chances at the 2010 World Cup and also picks his team from Africa that he thinks will do well in the first World Cup on our continent.

Speaking to iafrica.com's Khaya Ndubane, the Free State Stars coach calls on Bafana coach Carlos Parreira to make up his mind and have a settled team.

Khaya Ndubane (KN): Gordon, looking at their group, what do you think of Bafana Bafana's chances of qualifying for the second round of the World Cup?

Gordon Igesund (GI): Look, I have to be honest with you ? we have a very tough group but what is good is that we have time to prepare well for this tournament. I believe that with the right preparations and the support from the fans, Bafana can do it. Having said that, Parreira has to get his squad settled first as up until now we don't have a settled squad. He needs to have at least 15 players that will be the core of the team.

KN: How far do you think we'll go in the World Cup?

GI: It will be a fantastic achievement if we get to the quarterfinals but just making it to the next round would be huge achievement as well. I do believe though that we'll go through to the next round and once we are there anything is possible.

KN: Besides France of course, which are teams poses a threat to Bafana's chances of qualifying for the second round?

GI: As you have mentioned it, France poses a bigger problem, but I'm worried about Uruguay and Mexico as well. Everyone seems to be worried about France only and that can be detrimental. We need to treat all the teams in our group with the respect they deserve.

KN: Bafana Bafana will be going into training camps in January and in March. Do you think these camps will help the team in any way?

GI: Yes, I do believe that these camps will do us a world of good. Remember, we'll be playing against top teams in Brazil and in Europe during our camps. These matches will expose players to different styles of play and that will be very good for the team.

KN: Bafana seem to be struggling to score goals. Do you think this problem can be solved before the World Cup?

GI: Look Khaya, we have very good strikers in the country hence I believe that this problem does not rest with the strikers alone. We seem to be struggling in the creativity department as well and as you know strikers needs opportunities to score goals and we seem to be struggling in the last third of the field. But like I have said, Parreira has a plenty of time to sort this problem out.

KN: Looking at the other five teams from Africa, which team or teams do you think will do well in the World Cup.

GI: There is no doubt in my mind that Ivory Coast will do well in the World Cup even though they are in a very tough group. Ivory Coast have the strongest team in all of the Africa's six teams as most of their players have huge experience in Europe and this will help them to do well in the World Cup.

KN: Gordon, thanks for your time and good luck with Stars.

GI: Thanks, Khaya.
