Tano Goya maintained Argentina's impressive record this season by carving out a one-shot lead after the first round of the Czech Open on Thursday.
The 21-year-old from Cordoba carded a seven under par 65 at the Prosper Golf Resort in Celadna as he began his campaign to follow compatriots Angel Cabrera, the Masters champion, and Ricardo Gonzalez, the Swedish Masters champion last week, into the winner's enclosure.
Goya, who won the Madeira Islands Open in March, said: "When some of your compatriots win it motivates you a little more.
"I played really good today. When you play well and have a good round you are relieved in the first round. It is important to start on the right foot."
After birdies at the tenth and 14th Goya eagled the 553 yard 16th from five feet after a three wood approach and followed that with two more birdies.
He bogeyed the second, but then picked up more strokes on the fourth and eighth to take a one-shot lead over English pair John Bickerton and Steve Webster.
France?s Francois Delamontagne, Robert-Jan Derksen of The Netherlands and Spaniard Ignacio Garrido all signed for rounds of 67 to lead the chasing pack on five under.
Course designer Miguel Angel Jimenez posted a one under 71.
