The opening round of the 3.7 million dollar PGA Viking Classic was rained out for the second straight day on Friday.

The Annandale Golf Club is too soaked to play on so organizers hope to start the first round Saturday morning, weather permitting as forecasters are calling for more rain overnight.

The course is under water after Thursday's storm, and two more inches are expected to fall so the course may not be ready on time Saturday.

This is the first time consecutive rounds were postponed on the PGA Tour since the BellSouth Classic in 2005. That tournament was cut to 54 holes and won by American Phil Mickelson on Monday.

There has been no formal decision as to trimming the championship to 54 or 36 holes.

Some play on Monday is expected at this point and the fact there are events scheduled next week in the United States helps.

Tee times were delayed three hours Friday before the final decision to call it off.

The defending champ is Will MacKenzie of the US.
