Moroka Swallows announced on Friday that they have terminated the employment of coach Julio Leal "after undertaking a due process procedure".

Leal was advised of this decision on Thursday.

"The club trusts that this announcement clarifies the situation pertaining to Mr Leal's employment and will halt the misleading and damaging comments made in recent weeks which sought to suggest that the coach had already been dismissed when in fact this was not the case," read a statement issued by the club.

"The club takes this opportunity to wish Mr Leal well in his future endeavors," the statement continued.

Meanwhile, Swallows have released a number of players in an effort to make space for the potential new recruits.

The affected players are: Alton Meiring, Sandile Ndlovu, Siphesihle Ngobese, Brent Geyer, Sibusiso Themba and Edward Malinga — who are all out of contract.

On-loan defender Sydney Plaatjies has been released back to Mamelodi Sundowns, while Cecil Oersen, who was also out of contract, has signed for Bloemfontein Celtic.

Want-away defender Fabian McCarthy has also been placed on the transfer list.

"The Club is very actively at work on securing high quality players for the new season," read a statement from the club.
