There is just one place remaining in the Currie Cup play-offs, but there is plenty to play for in the final weekend of league action.

Western Province, the Sharks and Blue Bulls have all already booked their semifinal spots, with Griquas and the Free State Cheetahs fighting it out for the final place.

However, every match in the last round of league action is important, as teams continue to jockey for the final positions.

WP edge the Sharks in first place, on points difference, with both teams on 49 points. They will both host semifinals. They are playing for the possibility of hosting the Final.

The Bulls, who can still finish third or fourth, will have to travel in the play-offs.

Griquas need two bonus points from their final league match against the Sharks to make the semis, knowing that the Cheetahs will fancy their chances of a full five points from their match against the hapless Boland Cavaliers.

Even the Lions, who can't finish higher than fifth and lower than sixth, will have a say in the final places on the standings. They host WP and could open the door for the Sharks to return to the top of the standings.

In fact that game, Lions versus Province, is the final game of the weekend - which means the standings won't be confirmed until about 19.00 next Saturday, October 10.
