Kaizer Chiefs Managing Director and Chairman Kaizer Motaung is hoping that new Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic will take his club to new heights.

"We have appointed Vermezovic on a two-year contract following an extensive search for the new coach. We were very impressed with his presentation and we believe that he is the coach to take us to greater heights," said Motaung.

He added: "Vermezovic is a former footballer who represented his country both at junior and senior level. He is also a scholar of the game having acquired UEFA Pro Licence, and as UEFA Instructor. One of his strengths is the man management skills, which is pivotal to the success of any coach in the footballing world.

"This is a coach with a proven record, having won the league back in 2005/6 season with Partizan Belgrade which is an equivalent of Kaizer Chiefs back in Serbia."

Motaung said Chiefs will be putting structures in place, making sure the coach gets the support that he is looking for.

"The Football Management will be creating an environment that will be conducive for the coach to achieve his goals. I would like to call on the Kaizer Chiefs faithful to give the coach a warm welcome and support him in his duties."

Meanwhile, Motaung also revealed that Chiefs have appointed club legend Donald 'Ace' Khuse as Vermezovic's assistant coach.

"The technical team will remain the same as last season with an exception of Fani Madida who was an assistant coach to our former coach (Muhsin Ertugral) has been redeployed to the development structures and will be in charge of the club's U-19.

"Fani will together with the coaches in the Development work hand in hand with the first team in ensuring that the club meets its goals," concluded Motaung.

Vermezovic's first assignment will be on 21 July 2009 when Chiefs take on Manchester City in Vodacom Challenge at Absa Stadium in Durban.
