Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Esrom Nyandoro says he and his teammates were impressed by the methods of new 'Downs coach Hristo Stoichkov.

"Everyone is impressed with the coach. We are also inspired by the fact that he was a great player in his day," Nyandoro told the Pretoria News.

Nyandoro added that the former Barcelona player will be gradually introducing his methods to the ‘Brazilians’, who had a dismal 2008/9 Absa Premiership season.

"To be honest I hate running at training but I have been enjoying running because the coach doesn't only give instructions, he runs with us. For a few days, he has been focusing on our endurance and physical strength in the gym," said Nyandoro.

Nyandoro said Stoichkov is yet to spell out his plans to the players.

"He hasn't told us about next season's plans but I guess he is waiting for the international players to come back before he reveals his plans," added Nyandoro.

Nyandoro, who had a terrible season by his usually high standards, said there won't be excuses for not winning trophies this season.

"Hopefully I won't have the injuries like I had last season. For the team, I think we can't finish the season without a trophy. I think we have to do much better than we did last season. Finishing a season without a trophy is totally unacceptable," commented the 28-year-old Zimbabwean international.
