Herschelle Gibbs is one of three new faces drafted into the South Africa A squad for a warm-up game against England this week.

The veteran opener, who was axed from the full Proteas squad for the first three one-day internationals against the tourists, has been brought in to replace Henry Davids (thumb), while Andrew Puttick and Rory Kleinveldt are also brought in for the 50-over encounter in Potchefstroom on Tuesday.

"Herschelle has shown excellent form in recent MTN40 matches," said convener of selectors, Mike Procter.

"This match will give him a further opportunity to press his case for an international recall.

"He is showing the consistency we want from him and his last innings was a match-winning century.

"The door is not closed to him or indeed to anybody else who produces the goods in domestic cricket.

"Both Puttick and Kleinveldt impressed for the Nashua Cape Cobras in the Champions League competition."

The other two players to drop out are Robin Peterson and Ryan McLaren, who the selectors feared could suffer from burn-out as he is also in the current national side.

Peterson has made his intention clear to sign a Kolpak contract with Derbyshire, therefore making him ineligible for any Cricket South Africa (CSA) representative teams.

The revised South Africa 'A' squad is: Hashim Amla (captain), CJ de Villiers, Dean Elgar, Herschelle Gibbs, Rory Kleinveldt, Heino Kuhn, Morne Morkel, Andrew Puttick, Rilee Rossouw, Rusty Theron, Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Vaughn van Jaarsveld.
