Maritzburg United will be looking for their first win of the 2009/10 Absa Premiership campaign when they host neighbours AmaZulu in the KwaZulu-Natal Derby at the Woodburn Stadium on Wednesday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).

The home team are unbeaten in the league thus far this season, claiming draws in each of their first two fixtures.

The 'Team of Choice' held defending champions SuperSport United to a goalless draw on the opening day of the season and then followed that up with a 1-1 stalemate away to BidVest Wits last week.

AmaZulu have had a roller coaster ride in the early stages of the 2009/10 season. They progressed to the semifinals of the MTN8 but were knocked out by Golden Arrows (4-1 on aggregate); defender Jan Sillo tragically passed away in a car accident; and they are amongst the league?s early pacesetters, tied with five other clubs on four points at the head of the table.

"I thought we played well against Arrows although maybe focusing on getting goals made us neglect the defending a bit. Teams that cover each other well in defending are tough to get around," AmaZulu striker Ayanda Dlamini told the club's official website.

He added: "We have ironed out these problems at training and I'm hoping against Maritzburg we are ready for a better attacking approach."

'Usuthu' kicked-off their Absa Premiership campaign with a 2-2 draw at home to Wits. Last week they claimed a valuable 1-0 away win over Platinum Stars.

But Neil Tovey's men will have to make a little bit of history if they are to come away with three points from Woodburn: in their four league matches with Maritzburg United they are yet to claim a win.

In fact, United have won three of the four encounters and did a league 'double' over 'Usuthu' in 2008/09, six points that proved very valuable in avoiding the danger of relegation.
