The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that the MTN8 Final between Ajax Cape Town and Golden Arrows will be played at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 26 September.

"There's no doubt that Orlando Stadium is a world class venue with world class facilities," said PSL General Manager: Football, Ace Ncobo.

He added: "As an iconic venue in our history, Orlando Stadium is worthy of a Cup Final. It was also the wish of both clubs and the sponsors to take the final to Orlando Stadium and after considering all our options we decided to go with this particular venue."

After undergoing a major revamp in 2006, Orlando Stadium re-opened its doors to top class football in November last year.

Used as a training venue for the recent 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, Orlando Stadium currently possesses arguably the best pitch in South Africa. Evidence of this is the 11 goals scored in the last three matches played there.

"We are happy about the decision to take the MTN8 Final to Orlando Stadium because this is an outstanding venue and most importantly, PSL considered our recommendations and those of our teams before reaching this resolution," said Anthony Garstang, senior manager for sponsorship at MTN SA.

"We are also pleased that two of our football ambassadors are contesting the final because nobody understands the spirit of the MTN football brand better than these two teams. Both sides have exhibited the last man standing approach very well in the manner they have approached their march to the final and the type of football they have played. It was Wafa Wafa indeed," added Garstang.

Kick-Off for the final is at 8.15pm.

The match will be televised live on both SABC and SuperSport.
