Sri Lankan outfit Wayamba recorded their only victory of the Champions League, but couldn't prevent Australian team Victoria from going through to the second round.
Wayamba - who needed a convincing victory to overcome a poor net run-rate after their heavy loss to the Delhi Daredevils - were deserved winners by 15 runs on the day.
They were left wondering what might have been had they put up a better score after a fantastic start.
Wayamba skipper Jehan Mubarak won the toss and elected to bat first on a pitch that kept low from the outset.
After losing Mahela Udawatte (1) early on, Jeevantha Kulatunga (41) and Michael Vandort (42) put on 81 for the second wicket.
Wickets fell regularly from there on as the Sri Lankans struggled to 119/9 from their 20 overs.
Victoria never looked interested in chasing the total though, with the knowledge that that a score of 84 would be enough to see them advance to the Super 8 stage.
Australian international Brad Hodge top scored with 44 and Andrew McDonald clubbed some lust blows late on, as Victoria struggled to 103/4.
Another Australian international, Shane Harwood won the man-of-the-match reward for his bowling figures of 3/14.
