A small group gathered at the international arrivals hall at OR Tambo International Airport to welcome Bafana Bafana home on Thursday morning.

The national team touched down following their tour of Scandinavia and received a lukewarm welcome with only nine fans blowing vuvuzelas and chanting anti-Joel Santana slogans.

There were no politicians in sight to welcome the national team back home. Bafana Bafana returned from their disappointing tour of Scandinavia where they lost to both Norway and Iceland.

When the team emerged from the terminal, fans stopped singing and chanting in protest against Bafana Bafana?s poor results Santana looked tense as he led the team out.

He quickly defended the losses against Norway and Iceland, saying he was not employed to win friendly games and he would not succumb to public pressure calling for his resignation.

Players wasted no time at the airport as some were whisked away by bus and others rushed off to catch connecting flights home.
