CJ de Villiers set things up and Morne van Wyk finished the job as the Eagles cruised to a five-wicket victory over Somerset on Friday.

Somerset set the South Africans a modest target of 133 after De Villiers again shone with the ball.

De Villiers picked up the wickets Gary Kieswetter and Arul Suppiah in his first over the Eagles seamer then had Zander de Bruyn caught for just two.

Somerset rallied well to regroup from 52/5 to finish on 132 thanks largely to a half-century by Wes Durston.

But De Villiers removed Durston in the 19th over to ensure Somerset never got close to 150. The Eagles quick finished with figures of 4/17 from his four overs.

The Eagles had a relatively comfortable time of it with the bat as Van Wyk and Ryan Bailey shared in a half-century partnership for the fourth wicket.

Both batsmen were gone close to the end of the match, but the damage had already been done with Van Wyk departing with the score on 132 and just one run needed for the victory.
