Log leaders and defending champions SuperSport United will look to add to AmaZulu's woes when the teams meet for an Absa Premiership clash at the Loftus Stadium on Saturday afternoon (kick-off at 3.30pm).

SuperSport needed a last-minute equaliser from Daine Klate to rescue a point in their 1-1 draw with Platinum Stars in midweek.

'Matsatsantsa' retained their place atop the log despite the draw, but they now have only a two-point lead over second-placed Ajax Cape Town.

"We need a win against AmaZulu because we can't drop any more points especially being at the top of the table," SuperSport defender Morgan Gould told the club's official website.

He added: "We understand that AmaZulu desperately want the three points as well. And they will come at us hard and fast. It will definitely be a tough game but it is one we are looking forward to."

AmaZulu are stuck at the other end of the table: the KwaZulu-Natal club lie second from bottom on 12 points, though they at least have a three point-lead over 16th-placed Jomo Cosmos.

'Usuthu' were unlucky to lose 1-0 away to Free State Stars in midweek, conceding a late goal to suffer their eighth defeat of the season.

"The guys have been playing well; we have just been a little unlucky particularly in our last game against Stars. We are still confident we can get at least a point out of the game against SuperSport," said AmaZulu midfielder Thami Sangweni.

SuperSport and AmaZulu have met 28 times in the top flight and it is the Pretoria side who have dominated, winning 14 games to AmaZulu?s eight and outscoring the coastal side 49 goals to 33.

Last season each side won their respective home league matches against one another.

The teams have already met once this season, a top eight quarterfinal that ended 2-2 after extra time but was won 4-3 by AmaZulu on post-match penalties.
