Meanwhile, Rob Wagner, the CEO of WP Rugby (Pty) Ltd, on Friday expressed his delight at having formalised Habana's transfer from Pretoria to Cape Town.
"When we heard he wanted to come to Western Province we were elated and felt extremely privileged, this has now become a reality," Wagner said.
"Not only is he a fine player, but he is a leader in his own right. He is experienced and the leadership that he will give to the team is invaluable.
"We have a massive asset both on and off the field and we'll benefit enormously from Bryan's presence."
Erasmus: "Habana has the X-factor"
Rassie Erasmus, the Director of Rugby at Western Province, described Habana as the one player he always wanted in his team, because he has the 'X-factor'.
"If, six months ago you gave me one choice of which one player I wanted, I would have said Bryan Habana," Erasmus said.
"What he brings to the party, apart from his great skills and winning games, is knowledge. Being a mentor for youngers players ? teaching our wings the finer arts of the game.
"Then we can also bounce ideas off one-another.
"He has done a few interesting things and I have a few interesting plans and if you put that together it can be a great combination and I'm ecstatic.
"We [the Stormers/WP] were very close to success in the Super 14 last year [2008] and the Currie Cup this year.
"I played against him and I coached teams against him. He changes games and he has the X-factor, that is why we signed the guy."
