A fine performance by Daine Klate saw him walk away with the Absa Premiership Man of the Math award after his side?s 4-2 triumph over a struggling AmaZulu at the Super Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Klate was simply phenomenal in his performance scoring a brace on the day and having a hand on one his side?s other goals. SuperSport, with their clinical finishing in front of goal, showed why they are the current league leaders and defending PSL Champions.

This was a match that had it all, six goals, high paced action and even a dismissal, and is certily o toe game that will be quickly forgotten. One man who will surely try to forget this game in a hurry, however, is Ntokozo Sikhakhane of AmaZulu who score an own goal and was sent off in the last minute of the match.

The first 15 minutes was pretty uneventful until an own goal by Sikhakhane in the 16th minute put AmaZulu behind. Daine Klate whipped in a good cross from a free-kick on the right side of the 18 yard box; Sikhakhane rose at the front post to try clear the danger but only proceeded in heading the ball into his own net, 1-0.

Then only 12 minutes later United were able to double their lead from yet another set-piece. This time Glen Salmon was the provider chipping a free-kick to the back post to find Thabo September unmarked. The SuperSport defender made no mistake from only a couple of yards out with a well placed header, 2-0.

AmaZulu did come back into the game a bit just before the half time break and almost drew level in the 43rd minute. A quick one-two between Dumisani Ngwenya and Sikhakhane saw them cut through the United defence, leaving Sikhakhane with just the keeper to beat which he did, but heartbreakingly saw his attempt cleared off the line by Bongani Khumalo.

The second 45 started with a bang as Klate basically secured his side the victory scoring their third goal three minutes after the restart. Klate rounded off a nice passing movement by SuperSport when the ball found him unmarked six yards out from goal. He did not hesitate to fire the ball home, past a sprawling keeper, 3-0.

Brent Carelse had a great opportunity to add to his side?s score when United were awarded a penalty-kick in the 60th minute after Salmon was fouled inside the box. Carelse, however, squandered the chance firing high over the cross-bar from the spot.

The miss was not that crucial and was soon forgotten when Klate scored his second goal and his side?s fourth of the afternoon two minutes later. Anthony Laffor attacked down the right flank and produced a good low square ball to find Klate at the back post who buried the chance with a smile, 4-0.

With the points thought to be secure SuperSport slacked off a bit and allowed AmaZulu to attack them, and attack they did. First, in the 67th minute Litha Ngxabi pulled a goal back for his side with a superb dipping shot from 20 yards out that had the beating of Emille Baron, 4-1.

Then four minutes from time a goal mouth scramble inside the United area saw Bukasa Kasonga pounce on a loose ball and pull yet another goal back for AmaZulu, 4-2.

But it was all too little to late for the Durban side and to rub salt into their wounds Sikhakhane was sent from the field after receiving his second yellow card.

The win for SuperSport sees them cement their place at the top of the Absa Premiership.
