Springbok wing Bryan Habana hailed the Barbarians' famous win over the All Blacks at Twickenham, as one of the best victories in his glittering international rugby career.
The Stormers-bound World Cup-winner put in a man of the match performance with a hat-trick of tries for the star-studded Baa-Baas side, that inflicted the All Blacks' first defeat on their European year-end tour.
The All Blacks' European tour, saw them notch up wins over Wales, England, Italy and France without conceding a try but the second-string outfit succumbed to the Barbarians, who were masterfully led by Wallaby playmaker Matt Giteau.
Habana along with his fellow countrymen Victor Matfield, Morne Steyn, Jaque Fourie, Fourie du Preez, Schalk Burger, Bismarck du Plessis and Tendai Mtawarira also recorded their fourth win over the New Zealand in 2009, following their 3-0 whitewash in the Tri-Nations.
"This rates up there with the best," Habana said of the win.
"To finish off with three tries is great.
"To beat the All Blacks, who haven't lost on tour or conceded a try, is very special. It's great to finish off as we did."
Habana said he was fortunate to be able to finish off some great opportunities created inside him.
"It was a great team performance. We have really enjoyed each other's company this week and that showed on the field.
"To end the season this way was special, at Twickenham," he said.
Barbarians captain Matfield said the match had been an 'awesome' experience, the side had defended well and it had been a great game played in a great atmosphere.
Got something to say?
