Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chief Executive Officer Dr Danny Jordaan has again reminded South Africans to buy World Cup tickets, to avoid disappointment.
The LOC briefed parliament's Sport Portfolio Committee on the status of ticket sales on Tuesday with just 94 days until kick-off.
LOC Chief Danny Jordaan told MPs that there were just over 300 000 general tickets available for the public, with great interest still being shown from the United States and the United Kingdom.
He said out of the three million tickets made available for the tournament almost 900 000 had been sold to South Africans.
Jordaan added that the available tickets were dependent on the matches, with the most popular games in the most popular host cities already sold out.
He said there would be tickets available for the less popular matches at the less popular venues.
The next phase of ticket sales opens on the 15th of April, where the public can purchase tickets over the counter.
Ticketing centres would be open at the county?s main airports, with 19 other centres opening nationwide.
Got something to say?
