Scores of supporters who have booked ? and paid for ? tickets will be unable to go to World Cup matches after a payment problem between First National Bank and FIFA came to light.
Several people who are in possession of reference numbers as well as proof of payment have been unable to collect their tickets after the FIFA ticketing system cancelled their bookings.
It is believed that FIFA somehow lost the record of payment received and thus cancelled the tickets.
Kimberly resident Bonny Madlala was one of the supporters experiencing the problem.
"I have a reference number and a deposit slip. The manager checked in the system and told me that my tickets were cancelled because FIFA did not get their money from FNB. I am angry and hurt because these tickets were for my family and I," Madlala commented.
So far FIFA and FNB have not commented on the situation.
