The South African Football Association (Safa) and SAIL/Stadefrance are on the verge of concluding a deal that could see Bafana Bafana play their first international friendly at the Cape Town Stadium.

According to the Cape Argus, Safa said bringing Bafana Bafana to Cape Town was virtually impossible because it was too expensive. But on Monday Safa chief executive Leslie Sedibe said an announcement was imminent.

"We are negotiating with SAIL/Stadefrance for a possible fixture before the end of the year," said Sedibe.

Sedibe added that the cost of hiring Cape Town Stadium was "extremely high", and that Safa was negotiating for a better price.

"It all depends on the negotiations," commented Sedibe.

Meanwhile, SAIL/Stadefrance executive Morne du Plessis confirmed that the operators were in discussions with Safa.
