Greek world indoor high jump champion Dimitris Chondrokoukis has failed an anti-doping test and will not be attending the London Olympics, his coach and father Kyriakos Chondrokoukis said on Thursday.

Chondrokoukis said he was informed earlier on Thursday by the Greek athletic federation (SEGAS) his son had tested positive to the banned steroid stanozolol.

"My son will not be participating in the Olympics leaving behind a lifelong dream," he said.

The coach said that a second anti-doping test has been requested.

He also announced that he has informed SEGAS of his resignation after 14 years as coach.
