There is dissent in the ranks of Athletics South Africa after three athletics federations affiliated to the ASA said they did not support Leonard Chuene?s handling of the Castor Semenya gender debacle.
The Eastern and Western Province Athletics Associations as well as the Boland Athletics Association say they are questioning the handling of the saga.
They claim they were shouted down when they tried to raise the issue at a special council meeting at the weekend.
ASA issued a statement after the meeting, saying Chuene had the entire board?s backing.
But the three federations said they did not pledge their support after their questions about the saga went unanswered.
They blamed the ASA team doctor in Berlin for not consulting with members about the results of Semenya?s gender tests before she took to the track.
They also questioned Chuene?s handling of the matter after he admitted he lied to the public about the tests.
The three federations issued a list of questions which they feel have not been properly answered and are giving Chuene a week to respond.
