ASA General Manager Molatelo Malehopo was escorted off the federation?s premises in Houghton on Monday.

He was refusing to leave his office.

The ASA?s Ray Mali stood his ground and locked the doors to the building.

Mali took over at the federation on Monday after the suspension of ASA President Leonard Chuene and his board two weeks ago.

He left after encountering resistance from Malehopo.

Malehopo returned to his office on Monday afternoon with a lawyer?s letter and refused to leave the premises.

Police were called in and Malehopo was escorted out.

Calls for Sascoc to keep ASA members in place

Local athletes are calling on sports governing body Sascoc to ensure the new ASA board does not think they are a law unto themselves.

Former track star Geraldine Pillay said Sascoc had a responsibility to ensure the arrogance of the ASA board was weeded out of the institution.

?They are not above the law and I think Leonard Chuene and his board members have acted like they were above the law and untouchable and that they were there forever,? she said.
