And if they choose not to what is the end result? The nature of oppression is such that it is often internalised by those who experience it and can then result in people taking actions that further exacerbate the oppression they experience. So women buying into the belief that the only way they can get any credibility in a male-dominated sports world is to flaunt their own sexuality may be contributing to the belief that this is okay - Maria Sharipova might be more than happy to share her latest outift with the media simply because she feels this is the only way she can hold the spotlight - even though the spotlight should be on her for her ability rather than her sexuality. If this is the common belief in society than we haven't come very far in terms of gender equity, have we?
