No direction
"); document.write("These players do not know what they are meant to do. its almost as if they are left to make up their own game plan as the game progresses! I don't think the coach knows what he's trying to do either. He speaks like a confused man and some of the comments he makes are ridiculous. Read some of the overseas press and you'll get an idea of how they view him. They don't understand some of his comments either when they interview him. The Boks have no direction under the current coaching regime and I cannot believe that players are happy at the moment. I think they are being told to \"shut up\". Anybody know when the last time was that we lost 4 tests in a row? Well I reckon its about to happen again if it has ever happened!. rick"); document.write("

I really ...
"); document.write("dislke the tone of the comments in this forum. \"Shoot the coach\", \"kick him back to district 6\", \"he should coach a coon carnival\". Those are not statements becoming a sport forum or a civilized society.

There a huge problem in the Springbok setup. But I am sure the powers that be will sort it out. I really feel sorry for Pieter de Villiers because he was put in a situation where he does not have all the answers and I also believe he is trying too hard to please everybody with his selections.

Pieter fire the non performers, put your plan on the table, drill it into those overpaid \"professionals\" and believe in it and yourself. Winning will follow.. Dan"); document.write("
Coach
"); document.write("Unfortunately de Villiers is a good coach but a terrible selector. You cant play with a different team week after week. As for Jake , please leave him where he is as he was never a good coach. Any monkey could have won the RWC after New Zealand and Australia was knocked out. White's results before the world Cup was as shocking and if he didnt have Eddie Jones prior to the RWC he would also have been in the same boat as the rest.. Chris"); document.write("
oh the horror
"); document.write("How is it possible that within a few short months, South African Rugby has decomposed from an all conquering, close knit, supremely motivated team of winners to the confused, lost and slightly pathetic pantomime that caused us all to experience real pain on Saturday?
What has changed?
Well, it takes little to deduce that the only change is – unfortunately – the coach. I say unfortunately because every time a performance crisis threatens our Rugby we are quick to load the coach into the breach and fire him off but sadly this time there appears to be no other explanation.
Quite possibly South Africa is incapable of playing an “expansive at all costs” game but then it is the coach who has to recognize, based on his years of training and intuition, how to build on the strengths of the team game rather than introduce a system that is unworkable.
We have all been subjected to witnessing a Springbok team playing badly but Saturday’s performance s####ed the bottom of a very deep barrel indeed, the complete void of any form of cohesion, motivation and structure point to a dramatic and immediate remedy.
Goodbye Mr.de Villiers

"); document.write("Thought the ratings were abit over critical...players who had the ball like once or twince, getting rated at under 5 and being called headless chickens and all that. But i guess were feeling abit hard done since we simply expect better from the boks. In international rugby and almost everyting that u do u obviously have to master the basics first. Well the boks seem to have trouble with that, As a team our handling is very poor, and the forwards especially the lose trio isnt doing their job by protecting the ball and providing quality ball for the backs. That in essence is the biggest most obvious problems s.a has. I only hope De Villiers knows that.. Braam"); document.write("
who wouldve made JW side
"); document.write("Based on their current 3N form honestly how many of our current Boks would have made JW side.

Without looking at their reputations how many of these players would he have chosen gameplan or not?!?!?. all boks"); document.write("
Dont blame the players

Boks
"); document.write("Thanks Jan for such an accrate discription of the game on saturday. Most of the players need to be accountable for their poor performance's over the past month or so. However i don't think the coach can be responsible when players drop the ball, knock ons & loose lineouts etc. I would like to know what Peters game plan is so the public can understand what he is trying to achive. Lets hope this weekends result ends in our favour.. Denzil"); document.write("
NOT ALL THE COACHES FAULT.
"); document.write("Most of our RWC stars in the side are there on reputation alone!

Not the senior players wouldve made the starting line-up on their form if JW chose a side tomorow.
Not Butch, JP, CJ, Juan, Du Preez, Matfield, Monty, Spies and even Jean whose been leaking tries on his inside at a rate of 2 per match. As brillaint as he is on attack in JW book he would've been dropped from the squad or send to the wing!!

So before we cry for the coached head take an honest look at our RWC Boks. Schalk, Ricky, Steyn and a few others can play their hearts out but if your fellow players cant even catch a pass let alone throw a decent one because they so far off form is it the coaches fault?

. All boks"); document.write("
Responsibility for playing below your best, coaches fault?
"); document.write("If the guy on the street can understand that the Coach would like the Boks to play a more attacking type of rugby, does the Coach take responsibility if the squad is unable to perform up to scratch?

the old addage of if it aint broke dont fix it CANNOT be used since its not broken, more like the batteries are dead....or you cant teach a professional player how to catch, pass or kick...when to catch pass or kick if he's lots his form of a year ago.

You either stick with them as a Coach, show trust that experience will win through or drop the players.
if De Villiers dropped Butch, Cj, Juan, Matfield, Monty, JP, Du Preez and co (like JW did in his 3N last year) the public would crucify him as would the media....damn if you do damned if you dont. Even though those guys do need a kick up their asses.

Basic Skills is NOT the national coaches responsibility. The Bulk of the blame here lies with the players and their f####ing up on the field.

Funny how people were baying for JW blood as well when our Bok side only ever won 1 3N title on bonus point system under him.. all boks"); document.write("

"); document.write("de Villiers is just not up to the job as a Springbok rugby coach. I wonder how many of the current squad actually rate him because if the coach cannot command respect the results will be clear for all to see. Take the cover off and look at the contents. Wrong players
"); document.write("Someone asked what has changed to make the Boks from a great team to a bunch of losers, and answers 'The Coach'.

Well, the laws have changed, and its quite apparent a number of Jake's players are not competent in this new era which discourages collision rugby. De Villiers biggest mistake was to retain the likes of Butch James, Bismarck Du Plessis, Juan Smith and others. To those who blindly cry for Jake White, his team was not great. Anyone rememeber the 49-0 defeat to Australia? How we only could beat New Zealand's B team at Rustenburg? The bounce of the ball against Fiji which saved us from ignominious defeat in the WC?

Kitch Christie always said, you don't pick the best players, you pick those who can best execute the game plan. Most of Jake's men simply can't. To those who can't remember how Jake's team couldn't construct a try until Eddie Jones came on board I say: bleat on.

Fred B-H. Fred Hebbert"); document.write("
JW wrong on Watson.
"); document.write("JW VS Watson was always always a personal issue.
basing this on wether he is good enough for Boks or not is nothing short of biased.

lastly, look at where the game turned for the Boks and when they looked best.

i have to disagree with assesment on Watson, the writer should go look at how he impacted on the game. Yes he knocked a ball that that our Fullback didnt want to take responsibility for, did it impact on the game?...no. In a match where we we turning over ball he actually won the ball back and was a factor in both tries scored by Adi Jacobs. On the defense, Watson was COVER defence, where was our brilliant attacking centre JDV?....or our best in the world SH?....last time i looked both were beaten on their insides. So JW (who lost his all his 3N games in the world cup year due to NOT having a fetcher.)
Against NZ and Oz, like him hate him, you cant expect any player to come on with 10 -15 min every game and be on form but at least he wasnt as pathetic as out flankers who had full games and lost turned over 16 balls while there. At least as ####e as Watson was we kept possession, he was where he was suppose to be and that lead to us scoring more in 15 min with the replacements than the whole game!

. all boks"); document.write("
Fred B-H. Fred Hebbert 100% correct!
"); document.write("i have to agree with his comments, under the current NEW laws JW would've struggled.

Have any of the bleaters noticed that we havent seen ONE MAUL!! this 3N, a strength and platform used by JW as basis for most of our attacks. Set piece play has come 2nd under the new laws.

The game has become too fast to use the current bash-up and run and place the ball on the ground, going to ground with the ball becomes 50/50 ball.

In all our games where getting killed off by the amount of ball we turning over. Players like Richie, Smith have become even a greater factor!.

The coach will do better picking players that suite the new rules than those who cant adapt. The current crop of players will have to learn how to use possession a lot better. One simply has to look at how the Bulls S14 side was killed off for using antiquated loosies who just couldnt keep up or win back ball.. all boks"); document.write("
selection problems
"); document.write("reason we did well in the world cup is because du preez and butch where playing decent rugby . the past 2 weeks both du preez and butch have had shocking games no only that, our kicking out of hand is at school boy level. plus have all the players forgotten how to land while tacking a tackle . yes some blame needs to go the the coach staff but some of our supposed star world cup players are playing like absolute muppets ! if nothing changes soon the aussies are going to smoke us by 30 points next weekend !

TYPE of Flanker RSA lacks
"); document.write("Right, everyone agrees that Watson isnt the best loosie in RSA. I do as well.

BUT it seems most of our fans dont realise that you have different types of loosies. At the moment RSA only boast with 3/4 decent fetchers in the game under their flankers. Breinrich - cheetahs S14, Grobbelaar of the Lions S14 and Watson of the Stormers and perhaps Keegan of the Sharks are the only out and out fetchers under our flankers. They compete and win the ball on the ground and cause the turnovers.....

The rest are NOT the same mould.....yes we have an over abundance of brillaint loose forwards, but very few who are in the same mould as George Smith, Riche or even retired Neil Back of Eng.

The flanker who actually specialises in steeling the ball is a skill thats scarce and thats what we needing in the new EVLS at the moment.. all boks"); document.write("
Growing Pains
"); document.write("From these commens it seems that no one on this board has ever coached a successful team in any sport.

Last year South Africa got crushed by Ireland (yes the same ireland that did not make the semi's), Australia, and came close against Fiji and Tonga was no too comfortable either. These are those same players for the most part with exception of a chosen few, and jake white as coach. So while you idiots felate him as if he's the greatest coach to pick up a whistle, at least know your history.

That being said, allow the coach and players to grow together into the new system (devillier's players, not yours or Jake White's players), he has beaten Australia, Wales (the best Euro side right now), and New Zealand (something Jake White had not done).. Coach"); document.write("
