document.write("The management of the KZN athletics and swimming teams has been absolutely atrocious, as covered in the press, at national swimming galas in the last 2 years. Until we have people who want to be involved for the right reasons school sport will recover.
A prime example : At the KZN final athletics trials the time keepers sat in the main grandstand because it was too hot on the finish line. There were also only 2 white girls in the semi finals of the sprints. They both won their heats but were placed 5th & 6th. My daughter doesn't compete at these events any more. Try and establish from Athletics KZN what the dates of the various events are. Please also tell me how we can put our best teams forward when the swimming and athletics events are on the same day every year.

We are fast falling in international standings and need to arrest this by uniting/pooling all our resources and encouraging and promoting excellence in every sphere starting with skilled, intellegent and determined administrators who measure their success on performance. jose Fernandes");

I was completely blown away that the proposal which was submitted by these 2 Scientist was not implemented immediately. I have been coaching hockey for 8 years and the little i know about science in sport has bettered me as a coach and my teams are doing pretty well. This is only at school and Provincial level. It needs to be happening right at the top with specialist athletes and coaches. Personally, i say, hand SA Sport over to Sports Science, Tim and Ross and i strongly believe radical improvements will be made and our elite athletes will be getting what they deserve to compete at the highest level. document.write("Unfortunately across all the SA Sport there are too many people involved for personal and political reasons. They will pay the lip service but don’t give a damn what happens. If Jake White had not been so strong willed we would never have won the world cup again, but even he had enough of the politics and left.
I am generally an optimistic person but at the moment I cannot see SA Sport surviving in the long term. As politics starts to take a grip on the sport and at all levels the results will start to deteriorate. The effect of this will be that people will not be interested in going to sporting events and stadiums will no longer be filled. Sponsorship will then dry and well.................what will be left.
Look at our soccer we are hosting the 2010 world cup but ant even get a team together. We know the talent is there but the infighting, bureaucracy and mismanagement at all levels is destroying the sport.
The truth is until people take politics out of sport and don’t place all the emphasise on the demographics of the makeup of the team but rather in ensuring every person who wants to take part in sport can then and only then will sport take a chance.
As Prof Tim said, we only have so long before there is no one with the right skills left to take the sport forward.
Please can those people involved in sport for personal and political gain please go back to Pretoria and let those people that genuinely care to get on with the job.
I hope I am wrong and SA Sport will be like a Phoenix that rises from the ashes!!!

It requires passion, sacrifice and a lot of experience and skill. It is a disgrace when the appointment of the current officials is politically motivated instead of achieving the best result for our country, where individual gain is put before national interests.. Only when our sportsmen, coaches and administrators are chosen strictly on merit and we all acknowledge that we are all South Africans, regardless of the level of pigmentation of our skin, flatness or pointiness of our noses and straightness or otherwise of our hair, will we start to be competitive.
Then our administrators will have to identify and appoint top level scientists and other support specialists and raise and allocate funds appropriately. That is what their job is, after all!!!
The gravy train has to be derailed!!! Let's employ competent, honest,hard working people of the highest integrity to replace the incompetent, corrupt, slothful bunch who have managed to work their ways into the senior administrative positions in the past few years.
SA sport is suffering from an aggressive cancer. We need the services of the best surgeons and oncologists available if there is to be any chance of cure. If we employ homeopaths, witch doctors or sangomas, our sport will suffer a painful and rapid death!!!. Graham ");
