South Africa’s hopes of hosting the 2023 Rugby World Cup has indeed been boosted significantly after it was announced that the World Cup Board recommends this nation.
According to sport24, “a trio of independent companies and a World Rugby technical committee spent the past three months analysing the commercial and technical strength of the three respective bids.”
The concluding vote will however only take place on Wednesday, November 15 which will be the deciding factor for determining the winning bidder.
The last time South Africa hosted the tournament was in 1995 while France hosted it last in 2007. Ireland has never solely hosted the event, sport24 adds.
Japan will host the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
