There was much speculation that Springbok coach Allister Coetzee could become the new head coach of Canon Eagles if he loses his job as Bok coach.
However, Coetzee has denied reports that he is in talks with the Japanese club, quoted by The Telegraph as saying: “I‘m going to Japan. Definitely. I will be there in 2019," with reference to that year’s World Cup.
“I honestly don’t know where these rumours started. I’d like to know the source. It’s just unfortunate,” he added.
Sport24 adds that Coetzee previously coached the Kobe Steel Kobelco Steelers in Japan before accepting the Bok job in 2016.
SA Rugby will hold their next General Council Meeting on December 13 (Wednesday) after which an announcement on Coetzee's future is expected to be made.
