So, once again, limited overs cricket is destined to break South African hearts, writes Dan Nicholl.
Kayser back with Sharks

Former Sharks and Springbok centre and wing Deon Kayser has joined the Sharks coaching team for the upcoming Currie Cup tournament, where he will assist Head Coach John Plumtree with the backline.
Last year, Sean Everitt served in the role that Kayser will fulfil in the Sharks setup and this season took on the role as head coach of The Sharks XV in the Vodacom Cup. He will now be concentrating on the Absa Under 21 competition where he will coach The Sharks Under 21s.
"Sean has progressed in his coaching role here at The Sharks since being brought in for our Absa Currie Cup campaign last year, and this presents good continuity in coaching which is exactly what I wanted to do when I arrived here," explained Sharks coach John Plumtree.
"Deon has been coaching for a while now and this is an opportunity for him to step up; he's a specialist in the midfield, having played there for The Sharks and Springboks so it is going to be exciting to see how he
can contribute to the development of those younger players."
Kayser joined The Sharks in 1998 and went on to play 99 games for the Province in both Super 12 (49 caps) and Currie Cup (50), scoring 24 tries until his retirement at the end of the 2004 season. He played in 13 matches for South Africa which includes eight Tests between 1999 and 2001 as well as representing South Africa at the 1999 Rugby World Cup.
In 2008 he was involved in the coaching setup for The Sharks Under 21s and has had an important role with The Sharks Academy.
"It's an honour and privilege for me to be involved again," he admitted.
"I played for The Sharks and now I'm here in a different role. It's also different from my work at the Academy where the boys are younger, and with the senior side, there are guys who have played provincial rugby and for the Springboks even, so it is definitely different.
"I see it as a challenge, a learning curve for me but I also
believe I have a lot to offer as well."
