Reports that Springboks Jaque Fourie and Wynand Olivier could team up to play for the Stormers and Western Province next year is only half true.
This website can confirm that Fourie's move to Cape Town is 99.9 percent certain.
However, Olivier has not made up his mind and currently has a host of offers on the table. He will most likely only make a call on his future next week.
Earlier reports that Fourie, who will partner with Jean de Villiers in the Bok midfield against the All Blacks on Saturday, will replace De Villiers in the Stormers/WP setup, has proved to be accurate.
However, there is no guarantee that Olivier will join him.
The same French clubs that chased Fourie's signature ? Bayonne and Clermont ? have now turned their attention to Olivier, who will be on the bench for the Boks in Bloemfontein on Saturday.
Olivier also has an offer from his current team, the Blue Bulls, and then WP to consider.
It is believed he will sit down with his minders in the next week and make a call on his future after that.
What is certain is that Fourie will join the exodus of senior players from the Johannesburg-based Lions team ? the continued fall-out over the controversial axing of former coach Eugene Eloff.
Those who have already left or will leave at the end of the season for greener pastures include Springbok flyhalf Andre Pretorius (Western Force), Ernst Joubert (Saracens, England), Anton van Zyl (Western Province), Ethienne Reynecke (Saracens, England), Willie Wepener (Clermont-Auvergne, France) and Dewald Senekal (Toulon, France).
Although Fourie has a contract with the Lions until the end of next year, he is about to exploit an 'out' clause that will allow him to move to Cape Town.
Fourie will effectively replace his Bok midfield partner, De Villiers, at the Stormers/WP ? with the latter having announced his decision to further his career at Irish province Munster.
Fourie, who has played mostly second fiddle to Adi Jacobs in the battle for the Bok No.13 jersey since Peter de Villiers took over as coach, is rAted by many as one of the top outside centres in world rugby ? ranking right up there with the likes of Brian O'Driuscoll and Stirling Mortlock.
Although some reports have linked Fourie to offers from the Blue Bulls and the Sharks, this website has been told that Cape Town is where heart is.
SA Rugby have also offered him a contract until after the World Cup in 2011.

Got something to say?
