The Blue Bulls, already without more than 10 of their top players, suffered another big blow on Monday when it was revealed that flank Dewald Potgieter will be sidelined for at least four weeks with a fractured his wrist.

The setback came as a big surprise, after Bulls team doctor Org Strauss said at the weekend that there weren't any injury concerns in the camp - following their 13-19 defeat at the hands of Sharks in Durban last Friday.

X-rays on Monday confirmed that Potgieter has a fracture, after he had some troubles with his wrist for the last two weeks.

The result is that Bulls coach Frans Ludeke will have to select a new loose trio for their Currie Cup home game against the Boland Cavaliers on Friday.

Potgieter's partner in Super 14 Deon Stegmann will, however, be eligible for Friday's clash against the Cavaliers and Pedrie Wannenburg is also up for selection.

Apart from Stegmann and Wannenburg, Burton Francis as well as John Mametsa are also training again and they will be eager to show that they belong in the starting XV.

Francois Hougaard, who had to withdraw from the match against the Sharks following to a groin injury, has recovered and might start at scrumhalf against the Cavaliers.

Wilhelm Steenkamp (knee), Flip van der Merwe (shoulder) and Fudge Mabeta (ankle) also did not train with the team on Monday.

However, the team doctor, Strauss, believes they will be eligible for the fourth round clash.
