Western Province flank Francois Louw was alleged to have been bitten on the forearm during the first half of the Currie Cup Premier Division match against the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Video evidence has been couriered to the citing commissioner, Attorney Andy Prior of Durban, who will determine if there is sufficient evidence to cite a player.
Citings are normally required to be made within 24 hours of the conclusion of any match but the citing window may be extended in special circumstances.
Prior is expected to announce his decision on Tuesday.
During the game the Lions also complained about eye-gouging but no formal complaint has been made by the Jo' burg outfit.
