Wallaby utility back Drew Mitchell feels Jongi Nokwe should provide adequate cover for Bryan Habana, as he looked ahead to Saturday's Tri-Nations clash against the Springboks in Durban.

Mitchell looks likely to don the number 15 gold jersey for the Wallabies on Saturday — essentially replacing Adam Ashley-Cooper who will be rested this weekend due to a residual hand injury strain.

With that in mind, the 24-year-old spoke with enthusiasm about facing the men in green and considered his potential backline adversaries, amongst them being new cap Jongi Nokwe.

The Western Force star did however take heed of the absence of Bryan Habana, though felt the Springboks have a sufficient amount of player resources to fill the gap.

"I've seen a little bit of him [Nokwe] through the Super 14," Mitchell told a media gathering on Tuesday.

"He's a quick, elusive type of player, the same sort of mould as Bryan Habana.

"Habana is obviously a world class player, but they [the Springboks] have got plenty of class players right across the field.

"We certainly don't hold him [Habana] above anyone else in the side, nor dictate our gameplan around him, so the Boks certainly don't lose too much without him.

"Everyone who's in their [the Springbok] squad I'm sure will be eager, and have that enthusiasm to go out there and prove to the selectors and the coaches that they can do the job as well," he added.

Thursday has been set as team announcement day for the travelling Wallabies, and Mitchell feels he has been preparing sufficiently at both wing and fullback in the likely event of gaining a starting XV call-up.

"This week I've been training at both wing and fullback. I'm giving myself every opportunity to prepare in case I do get that call-up.

"Obviously with Coopie [Ashley-Cooper] out there's an opportunity at fullback — if it's me who gets the job I'll be very excited," said Mitchell.

On that note, Mitchell looked equally forward to playing at the Absa stadium, with conditions and a venue that have favoured the Wallabies over the years.

"We certainly enjoy playing there [in Durban]," said Mitchell.

"It's a great stadium — it's built right on top of you and it's a great atmosphere.

"The guys really enjoy being out there so if we can get out there and start well and silence the crowd, things hopefully won't go so bad for us," Mitchell added.
