Bulls' hooker Derick Kuün will only miss one Super 14 pre-season match, after he injured his calf muscle during a scrum session on Thursday.
Bulls team doctor Org Strauss told this website that the injury was not as serious as first thought.
"It is only a strain, not a torn muscle," Strauss said, adding: "He will be sidelined for about two weeks."
It means Kuün, the Bulls' first choice hooker, will miss the opening pre-season match — against the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday, 24 January.
But he'll be available for the two remaining warm-up matches — against the Cheetahs in Polokwane on Friday, January 30, and the Sharks in Durban on Wednesday, February 4.
Springbok Chiliboy Ralepelle, who had a niggling rib injury, is back in full training and expected to start against the Lions — while the third-choice hooker, Bandise Maku, will make his comeback during the course of next week.
Maku injured his quadriceps
during the off season, but Strauss said he will be ready in less than a week's time.
The rest of the squad are doing just fine and players like prop Gurthrö Steenkamp (ankle) and wing Akona Ndungane (shins) started to train with their teammates during the week.
The only other injury concern in the camp, scrumhalf Heinie Adams (hip flexor), is expected to be fit in time to take on the Lions.
