So, once again, limited overs cricket is destined to break South African hearts, writes Dan Nicholl.
Late blow for Lions
Article By:
The Lions suffered a late setback when regular captain Cobus Grobbelaar failed a late fitness test and was ruled out of his team's Super 14 encounter with the Crusaders in Johannesburg on Friday.
Grobbelaar, who returned home early from his team's Australasian tour, aggravated the ankle injury he suffered on tour and after Thursday's captain's run he was withdrawn from the team to meet the Crusaders.
Johan van Deventer has replaced Grobbelaar in the No.6 jersey for his Super 14 debut and Jaque Fourie will take over the captaincy roll.
Lions - revised: 15 Louis Ludik, 14 Deon van Rensburg, 13 Jaque Fourie (captain), 12 Doppies la Grange, 11 Jannie Boshoff, 10 André Pretorius, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Willem Alberts, 7 Ernst Joubert, 6 Johan van Deventer, 5 Anton van Zyl, 4 Jannes Labuschagne, 3 Lawrence Sephaka, 2 Willie Wepener, 1 JC Janse van Rensburg.
