The All Blacks suffered an injury scare when scrumhalf Piri Weepu went down, after twisting an ankle, near the end of their one-day training camp in Auckland on Wednesday.
The New Zealand players were practicing taking high balls, ahead of the August 22 Tri-Nations showdown with Australia, when Weepu went down.
He was helped from the field by one of the assistant coaches, putting no weight on his left ankle.
All Black coach Graham Henry said they were not sure as to the exact extent of the injury.
"Obviously it's a negative," Henry said, adding: "He tells me he'll be fine, but they all tell me that. We'll see what happens in the next 48 hours".
The All Black coach said a decision will be made on Weepu ahead of the team announcement on Tuesday.
This setback follows after lock Bryn Evans was ruled out of the remainder of the Tri-Nations, after being diagnosed with a small disc prolapsed in his back. He will undergo surgery.
