Heinrich Brüssow, the yo-yo of the Springbok team, has received a Test 'recall' just a day after being handed a Dirt Trackers role with the national team.

It was announced on Tuesday that Springbok newcomer Davon Raubenheimer has been promoted to the starting XV for the opening European tour match against Leicester at Welford Road on Friday.

Raubenheimer takes the place of Brüssow, who has been withdrawn from Friday's trip to Leicester - after the news on Monday that Test No.8 Pierre Spies had to pull out of the tour squad with an injury.

Spies underwent surgery on Monday following a finger injury sustained in the Blue Bulls' victorious Currie Cup campaign.

As iafrica.com reported earlier, Spies' unfortunate setback had opened the door for Brüssow to be recalled to the Test starting XV, after he was initially named to travel with the Dirt Trackers to England.

Brüssow will now join the group of 15 players that will stay behind in South Africa to prepare for the opening Test, against France in Toulouse on November 13. The Test starting XV will only travel to France next week.

Raubenheimer will now wear the No.7 jersey in the side to face the Tiger on Friday, while Dewald Potgieter switches to the No.6 spot vacated by Brüssow's recall to the Test team.

It is not the first time this year that Brüssow had been left out of the starting XV, only to be recalled.

He was also recalled when Schalk Burger was banned for his facial massage on British and Irish Lions wing Luke Fitzgerald in the second Test in Pretoria in June. Brüssow was one of the star performer in the Tri-Nations in Burger's absence, and was pin-pointed as one of the biggest dangers in the Bok team by none other than All Black captain Richie McCaw.

Another player to benefit from Spies' misfortune is Sharks loose forward Jean Deysel, who was called up to replace Spies and has been included on the bench for Friday's clash against the Tigers.

"Losing Pierre is a blow for us and a disappointment for him but we are fortunate to have strong back-up players in the squad who are familiar with how we want to play," said Bok coach Peter de Villiers.

" I am also confident that the change will not disrupt our preparations for the important tour opener on Friday," he said.
