Irish giants Munster has confirmed that Free State and Springbok prop Wian du Preez has signed a three-month deal with the club.

Du Preez is currently on tour with the Springboks and will only join up with the club following the Springboks' final Test against Ireland at Croke Park at the end of November.

Du Preez's signing will help fill the void left by Marcus Horan and Dave Ryan, who have both been ruled out through injury until after Christmas, while Darragh Hurley is also unavailable with a shoulder injury.

The 27 year old Du Preez was called into the Springboks squad over the weekend and will join Munster - subject to obtaining release from the South African Rugby Union, a valid work permit and passing the normal medical examinations - following his commitment to the Springboks European tour. He will then return to South Africa for pre-season training with the Cheetahs ahead of the 2010 Super 14.
